About this opportunity:
This thesis opportunity is to work on Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) on a Radio Near Algorithm IP for (COMPANY NAME).
DVFS is a technique that aims at reducing the dynamic power consumption of a chip by dynamically adjusting the voltage and frequency. It can be used for power and energy savings in computational systems like processor cores and memories. We believe that this can be applied our IP designs, which have multiple data & sampling rates. This thesis opportunity could start with a study, progress into implementation and analyzing its impact on the design.
At (COMPANY NAME), our Radio Near Algorithm IP Unit is setting new standards in radio hardware innovation, advancing GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G, and pioneering technologies. The core of our mission is advancing the antenna near signal processing technology implemented across ASIC, FPGA, and structured ASIC circuits. Our team's deep expertise and commitment to innovation mean we are actively developing the next generation of algorithmic solutions that will power tomorrow's connectivity.
What you will do:
* Investigate and understand the impact of supporting multiple voltage levels and frequencies on the hardware architecture of DPD.
* Implement and compare the hardware complexity of the new hardware architecture with existing multi-mode hardware.
* Evaluate the power savings and its overall impact on the temperature.
* Propose a possible power architecture to implement DVFS in DPD.
* Estimate the impact of above proposed architecture on DPD.
The skills you bring:
* Final year master's student in Electrical Engineering, Embedded systems, Computer Engineering or similar, with some background in chip design flow and power saving methodologies
* Interest in wireless communication, signal processing algorithms and SoC design
* Experience in HDL languages, C, C++, MATLAB, Python, etc.
* Eager to learn, ambitious, having an innovative mentality as well as being a true standout colleague.
* Fluent in English, both verbal and written communications.
Extent: Assumed 1 student. 30 credits
Location: Lund
