Job Description:
The Cost Management Accountant is a key member of the Financial Performance team at (COMPANY NAME) Life and Pensions Ireland. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Performance and will work closely with the wider business. You will play an important role in managing and improving cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making.
You must have valid Irish/EU work rights to be considered for this position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Support the Head of Performance in the production and presentation of cost plans.
* Generate regular reports and offer insights on cost variances, trends, and key performance indicators to facilitate strategic decision-making.
* Work closely with finance teams and the wider business to develop precise financial forecasts, business plans and budgets. Monitor and control expenses, analyse trends and recommend actions.
* Perform expense checking and carry out valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost investigations take place.
* Lead reviews of Service Level Agreements to continuously seek ways to improve cost efficiency and ensure value of service. Conduct thorough analysis of cost structures and identify opportunities for cost optimisation.
* Collaborate with the wider ALPI business areas to enhance processes and overall efficiency.
* Promote a robust risk and control environment with emphasis on strong documentation and risk management.
Skills & Experience:
* Professional accounting qualification is essential.
* Experience working in a similar role in the life insurance industry is desirable.
* Advanced analytical and computer skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the proven ability to articulate and present complex processes and concepts to Executive level stakeholders.
* Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work independently.
* Experience in meeting deadlines, coordinating activities, and escalating risks and issues.
