Job Description
Brief Role Objective:
* Work closely with the Deputy Chief Investment Officer to undertake bond issuer and economic analysis to further support the Fixed Income Committee in the ongoing analysis of bond holdings and potential new investments
* Work closely with the fixed income portfolio management team
Key Responsibilities:
* Research, monitor and select new credit ideas.
* Propose and present analysis to the Fixed Income Committee.
* Generate monthly / ad hoc performance reports for the team and maintain research screens.
* Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders responsible for client portfolios to ensure that the approved list and ongoing research is relevant to the business needs.
* Provide appropriate research notes to support investment ideas appropriate for both key stakeholders (portfolio managers / risk / compliance etc.) and regulatory requirements.
* Support the investment process and recommending improvements where applicable.
* Ensure that all processes, analysis, models and spreadsheets are documented, maintained and stored in line with company policies.
* Assist with the promotion of the firm's brand name externally within the fund management community
Requirements
Technical Requirements:
* Minimum 3 year experience in financial markets, primarily in broad fixed income
* Some experience doing either credit research or portfolio management
* Prior experience of using Bloomberg and its excel functionality
* Competent user of MS Excel and the remainder of the MS Office Package.
* IMC and/or CFA would be advantageous (CFA Level 1 minimum)
Other skills, competencies and attributes:
* Strong numerical and analytical skills, specifically in the context of fixed income research and/or portfolio management.
* A capable presenter with excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
* Ability to work within a team and train more junior members.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet critical deadlines.
* Ability to liaise with Investment Managers on ad hoc requests regarding investment collectives.
* An understanding of operational due diligence and knowledge of private client investment preferable.
