Your team
You will be part of the Campaigns and Civil Society team within the Public Communication Division in the Directorate General Communications (DG/C). Our Directorate General has approximately 250 staff communicating with the public and media about the ECB's work and views in all official EU languages. We manage media relations, digital content, internal communications, multimedia and design, and engage directly with the general public on a daily basis. We are currently working on making the ECB more accessible to different audiences and reaching out to the public at large.
We are currently looking to fill two positions for Public Outreach Specialists.
In your role as Public Outreach Specialist, you will be part of a team of seven members of staff responsible for engaging with non-expert audiences through video content creation, paid advertising, targeted communications campaigns and collaborations with influential individuals and organisations, working with other business areas at the ECB and external stakeholders. You will work closely with others in our Directorate General as part of cross-divisional teams handling strategic communication projects or urgent tasks.

Your role
As a Public Outreach Specialist you will:
* draft scripts for videos that make complex topics simple through metaphors and analogies;
* work with film crews and agencies to shoot and produce YouTube videos explaining basic economic concepts to a young audience;
* support the organisation of multi-channel communications campaigns comprising paid advertising, social media outreach and influencer collaborations;
* research audiences, behavioural attitudes, social media trends and preferences and assess where collaboration with influencers might be possible;
* generate creative ideas for new video formats that can capture audience interest and elicit an emotional response;
* organise communications initiatives, define KPIs, develop detailed project management plans and create evaluation reports.

Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
* a bachelor's degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, international relations, political science or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
* in addition to the above, a minimum of two years of proven experience in organising innovative communications initiatives for a non-expert audiences;
* exceptional writing skills in English and an ability to create content which is easy to understand for websites, social media and video scripts;
* knowledge of economics and the mission, tasks and responsibilities of the ECB, and an ability to translate complex topics into clear messages;
* excellent project management skills and experience working with creative agencies and film crews to produce video content, manage creative campaigns and conduct paid advertising for social media and A/B testing;
* an excellent (C2) command of English and an intermediate command (B1) of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

* a proven track record of creating social media content with measurable results in audience growth and engagement;
* a creative mindset with a portfolio showcasing innovative content creation across different media;
* familiarity with social media trends and formats favoured by Millennials and Gen Z.
